Duration: Classroom training every Monday, over 13 weeks
Time: 5 sessions @ 9:00am – 2:00pm, 8 sessions @ 9:00am – 3:30pm
Location: Study virtually with real time online with instructor-led sessions via Zoom.
Course includes
Gain valuable knowledge and skills as a support worker in the disability sector, to foster independence and community access for people with disability. Learn how to provide daily supports, dignity and choice for the people you support.
Contains 4 Units of Competency.
- CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
- CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
- HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
- HLTWHS006 Manage personal stressors in the work environment
Course requirements
This program is open to all – jobseekers, existing workers, or people looking to enter the industry.
Note: All study modes require students to undertake additional activities outside of class time, including research activities, reflections and assessments via the Learning Management System (LMS).
During your study, you will need to meet specific requirements that are necessary for you to complete your course work and be successful:
- Students will need to demonstrate that they have the appropriate language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills
- Effective communication, documentation and research skills
- Access to digital technologies (e.g. laptop, desktop, tablet-computer and/or smartphone) with basic digital literacy skills.
